Thank you for visiting this site.
I started this website to consolidate information on the Hong Kong 'China' overprints and in the hope that it would:
- Generate interest in this fascinating and often little-known area of philately
- Encourage other collectors to send me scans and information to increase the census
- Allow others to share their research in this area
This site attempts to gather in one place some of the extraordinary research that has been done by a number of individuals and organizations (please check the Acknowledgements link at top!) without whom none of this would be possible. Any errors in here are almost certainly my own and I would truly appreciate updates, corrections, additions and anything that you feel might expand upon this subject.
If you have any postal history (covers, envelopes, postcards, anything with the 'China" overprinted stamps on it!), please would you be so kind as to send me an email with a full size scan of the item and any information you have so that it might be added to the census.
If you have any adhesives (stamps) that are an earlier or later known usage than that listed in the census, please also would you send me a scan of the item.
Please ensure that any scans are at least 300dpi and preferably 600dpi and if you can identify the subtype of cancellation, that would be appreciated.
Please note that this website is a work in progress and is updated regularly. I am starting to modify the census to include the franking and the destination country but this project has only just begun.
